How We Serve — In the World

Missionary Support Programs

In the past, Epworth UMC provided financial and prayer support for two special missionaries.  Carol Partridge served in Macedonia from 2000 until her retirement in 2014.  Carol worked with all thirteen of the UMC congregations in Macedonia, especially with children, youth and women.  Rev. Steve Johnson and his wife Carol served in Far East Russia for 5 years, but then accepted a mission position in India.

Special offerings collected during our Holy Communion services are usually dedicated to the work of our missionary partners. We are currently looking for a mission or missionary to support so these funds have been collected and distributed to several different small operations. If you have any questions or insight, please contact Kathy Fraker at 867-3095.

Mission Volunteer Teams

During the summer we often send out a team (both youth and adult) on a mission trip.  In the past we have gone to Sierra Service Project sites and helped with home repairs. We have also gone to Sacramento and served with the Loaves and Fishes program that helps to feed and care for the homeless in their area.  For more details on these mission trips please contact the church office or Kathy Fraker at 867-3095.

In February 2013, two members of Epworth went with a V.I.M (Volunteers In Mission) team to the Philippines. They spent 13 days in mission to the poorest of the poor, by providing food, medical care, and dental care. In Feb 2014, Pastor Ed Lubiano went to the Philippines as an emissary of Epworth to serve with and establish contact with many service groups, feeding programs, and a seminary. We hope to continue the mission work he established in years to come.

UMCOR Specials

When disasters occur in our world UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is one of the first groups to respond and offer aid.  Through financial support, Epworth also responds.  In addition, our United Methodist Women’s group gathers and assembles the goodies needed to make Health Kits and School Kits.  These kits are then forwarded on to UMCOR to be sent to areas through out the world that have a need.  For more information contact the church office at 423-4714.
